The “Strand of Life” artwork is located in the rehabilitation courtyard of the St John of God Midland Public Hospital and is made by local artists Rob McCulloch and Jahne Rees. The sculpture is part of $1 million worth of public art commissioned as part of the State Government’s Percent for Art Program.

It is a double helix DNA strand, formed out of a 4m high stainless steel frame on a motorised base that slowly rotates. At night, three pureLED Pixie 12 RGB LED luminaires illuminate the individually hanging slumped glass segments with subtle colour changes creating a stunning effect.
