Perth Children’s Hospital incorporates state of the art technology throughout, and the lighting artwork that adorns the Winthrop Avenue facade is no exception. Stuart Green’s piece ‘Fizz’ injects a dose of fun into the visitor’s experience, utilising full colour LED strip lighting to illuminate the edges of circular ‘bubbles’. Intelligent controllers transform the display into a 320 metre long low resolution display, upon which vibrant and colourful animations designed by Green himself are overlaid. The system, comprised almost exclusively of PureLED luminaires, drivers and controllers, is fully integrated with the hospital’s building management system, allowing hospital administration to adjust scheduled operation, select alternative animations or manually control the system from the comfort of their workstations.
